Office365 Tools for Businesses

We have been doing email for some time now. From SBS 2003 server boxes all the way to latest Office365. I must say, Office365 has come a long way with the back end giving us admins excellent deep controls and deep features.

The features I will go over in this blog post are each very useful to the admin and the user or business that just transitioned to Office365
Let’s start with the user-business.

OneDrive
Please don’t overlook this key piece of technology for your business.

We have decided for our clients that the desktop is disposable. Meaning we do not want to waste your dollars and time rescuing data from a user’s desktop. If the account is Office365 enabled, we suggest the user push as much personal data to OneDrive. Less to backup, less for us to worry about. We are concerned about the server and your critical data and the backup of that data. Imagine to worry about the data on 25 desktops also. That is an unnecessary cost.
That where OneDrive fits in.
  • One TB of storage each user.
  • Granular share controls.
  • Native save and open from OneDrive controls built right into Office 13 and 16
  • Excellent Sync Tool for the desktop
  • Ability to email file share links to outside users.
  • Files are encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Excellent OneDrive apps on Android, IPhone and Windows Phone

Here’s a link to the OneDrive Blog for latest updates and excellent OneDrive How To’s to give a try.

Office365 GROUPS
Office 365 Groups are a powerful quick easy tool for sharing information with a group of people associated with a project or event.

When you create your group, Office365 sets up a group inbox, conversation blog, shared calendar, OneDrive file storage to share project files and a OneNote notebook for notetaking all ready to go for your team project.

Groups are easy to create and add users. Demo this in your business and I’m sure you’ll be thanked in many ways.

Here is an excellent video for users and admins on what Office365 groups are, how to use and manage groups.
