WHS Remote Desktop Access

If you need remote desktop access on a Windows Home Server network and don't have a VPN set up yet, perform the following:

Open ports on your router 3389, or other RDP such as 3390. Don't forget to go to the WHS Firewall and add the exceptions. Also click change scope and allow any computer from the internet to have access access. Use a strong password for authentication.

If you need access to more than one PC, change the remote listening port in the registry, such as port 3390.

If possible, its better to set up a VPN to the Server, opening ports 1723 or use a himatchi VPN, then remote desktop to the internal IP of your PC.
