Windows 7 and 8 Moving My Documents and other Library Folders

Windows 7 Folder Redirection
There's a little extra thought in moving files to a network location or connecting to a shared location on the server for Windows 7.

Screenshot of Index Issue when adding a network folder. Most likely, you do not want to add the folder to your library just to index it. Windows will then create an offline version of that location on your PC. Windows will copy and sync this folder even if it contains a large amount of data.

Optional way to add a network location.

Second screenshot is where to change The My Documents location. Open My computer>users> current user profile. Right click My Documents. Here you can change the path a network location.

Here is a very good article at HubPages that shows you the way.

Windows 8  Folder Redirection

Click on your Desktop app.
Click on File Explorer on your taskbar.
If the Library is not already open, Click your Library in the left column.
Right Click Documents or Music or Pictures, Left Click Properties.
Here you have a cleaner look than Windows 7.

You have the option to set save location - Network or local. You can add an additional location - again local or network (mus or SkyDrive.  You can remove a location to lock down a save location.

If redirecting to a network share you must change the path similar to Windows 7 Redirection.
