Looking to disable the Hiberfil.sys file on a server

On HP MicroServers, ( maybe others) you will see the hiberfil.sys file taking up as much as you have in RAM .

Unhide protected O/S files.

If you have 8 or 16Gb RAM, you will have a 8 or 16Gb hiberfil.sys file. The Hiberfile.sys file is not to be turned off on laptops, tablets and workstations, as the system dumps your current session to the file so you boot up to that same session when you wake your PC from hibernation.

If you are tight on server space, feel free to turn off hibernation with this Microsoft Mr Fixit. Immediately check your root and you should see the file gone.

We had an issue where we could not turn it off in command line - ACCESS DENIED using the powercfg.exe command, but good old MrFixit plowed right through the issue.

The MrFixit has a turn on and turn off feature. It saved us 8Gb of storage on the system drive of a 3yr old HP MicroServer. Add up the page file, the SxS folder and storage can get tight after 3 years on a 75Gb partition.
