Router/Security appliance: Cisco RV130W - a fast little router  or SonicWall TZ  Series, D-Link DAP-2660 AC accesspoint for additional wireless coverage.

Switch: 16 Port or 24 Port Gigabit. Netgear ProSafe Plus are nice with added features.Ability to prioritize voice and video, and the ability to troubleshoot cable issues.

Server: HP MicroServer  w/ RAID 1  1Terabyte. One additional drive for hot spare. This microserver can host company data, and a line of business app or two. (Quickbooks) . HP has upgraded the CPU and amount of memory this box can hold. Quite capable! Max 16Gb ECC, CPU options from Celeron G1610 Dual Core to a Xeon E3-1220 Dual Core 4 virtual core. This should handle one host O/S and one virtual O/S for a small 5 user office. Server 2012 R2 will be needed for Hosting Virtual Machines.

Network Operating System: Microsoft Server 2012 Essentials. or Server 2012 R2 for Virtual Machine Hosting - We can sit with you to design you the best possible server for you budget.

Backup: USB 2.5" 2TB with off-site backup for critical data

Power Protection: Utilize one UPS for the server with a capacity of 1000va and one UPS for your equipment ( server, switch, router, wifi access point)

Workstations: At least an i5 CPU, minimum 4-8 Gb RAM, and SSD. Surface tablets or equivalent. There are also excellent business class computers from Dell, Hp and Lenovo.

EmailOffice 365 or equivalent cloud based exchange service.

Anti-Virus Protection: Sophos Cloud Based or similar managed virus product. If less than 5 users and cost is a factor, you can use Microsoft Security Essentials, but keep your users educated on phishing emails. You can also enable Gateway Anti-Virus at the Firewall with the SonicWalls. This is an optional feature which gives you an extra layer of protection.

Phones: - Go VoIP here. utilize one land line if the Internet goes down or forward to a mobile phone. We use Junction Networks - Its been rock solid for us and our clients. Use PolyCom or Grandstream phones here.

Custom Virtual Host Server: If you want to host more than one Virtual Server or additional Line of Business apps, go one step further with a beefed up server hardware for better hosting ability and resiliency.  Virtualize multiple server O/S's.  Use Altaro for server side VM backups. Host O/S Server 2012 R2. This box should be at least an 8 core CPU, 32Gb ECC Memory, with RAID 10.  This will double your server build cost. but again worth it for minimal downtime from bare metal disasters If you plan on grwing your business, this would be the best option..

For VPN access, you can set up a server side VPN with RRAS or use the Sonicwall TZ 105 or TZ-210 SSL or Cisco built-in VPN feature.

We also offer backup monitoring, server monitoring and workstation management for a predictable monthly fee. This will keep costs down and predictable as we catch small issues before they become big bills.
